Welcome to the new CATHOLIC ADULT NETWORK
Catholic Adult Network (CANEKT) is an organization consisting of many awesome volunteer leaders & members. It is an organization sponsored by the Catholic parishes in the Diocese of Buffalo for all adults; single, divorced, widowed, or married. Catholic Adult Network is an umbrella of opportunity for growth in the areas of spirituality, personal enrichment, social interaction and Christian service. We are committed in making members feel welcome. It is a network used to empower adults to CANEKT (connect) with God and unite in His cross.   You may visit our new web site at www.catholicadultnetwork.org  for more information.  If you would like to be placed on our database list, email Patty  at pmmoran@yahoo.com  or call her at 830-3171. If you like to receive periodic email updates of events, email Maria Hejna at: hejnamc@yahoo.com or call her at 885-3040.

A message from the Diocesan Contact Patty Spear:
As the Church begins a new year starting with Advent, so Quest begins with a new name Catholic Adult Network.  With the input of many people and after much praying, studying and meeting the groups of Quest North and Quest South have combined to create a new group for the future the "Catholic Adult Network." Both groups bring much strength to "the network."  Quest South has several activities that have been going strong for many years:  Summer Softball League, Thursday Bible Study with Deacon Bill, the Prayer Group, the Website, and Men's Floor Hockey.  Quest North Brings the Newsletter, Email Bulletin updates, Membership Committee, Volleyball, Mass and Socials and the ever strong Service Group.

The combining of both groups will provide many benefits.  With the new group there will be one insurance bill not two, saving $400.  With one newsletter going out we can cut the cost of postage (many people received both newsletters) and save time with only having to prepare one mailing not two.  We will also have one website that can post all of the upcoming events in a timely fashion and have one email list serve to keep everyone one up to date.
As we start the New Year with a new group, new name and new enthusiasm, you are invited to share you gifts, talents, time and energy for the Catholic Adult Network.  New activities and events are always welcome!  If you have ideas for a new activity go for it!  If you would like to help with the newsletter, the website or any of the communications, we need you!  Come to our bi-monthly leadership meetings and make a difference and create the future of the Catholic Adult Network.

Prayer to End Abortion
I went to the Pro-Life dinner at Salvatore’s Sunday night with my family and it was awesome.  Fr. Frank Pavone from EWTN is so inspiring. Please help to end abortion by reciting this small prayer only once a day.  That’s all it takes. Taking action in “baby steps” accomplishes a lot more than you know. Visit www.priestforlife.org for more information. Thank you. - Maria

Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life,
And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters.
I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion,
Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death
by the Resurrection of Your Son.
I am ready to do my part in ending abortion.
Today I commit myself
Never to be silent,
Never to be passive,
Never to be forgetful of the unborn.
I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement,
And never to stop defending life
Until all my brothers and sisters are protected,
And our nation once again becomes
A nation with liberty and justice
Not just for some, but for all,
Through Christ our Lord. Amen!

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES:
Call of the Wild! Greetings fellow outdoor adventurers. Contrary to popular belief I have not been lost. I have been out exploring new outdoor adventures. I would like to share some of these marvels of nature with my fellow adventurous souls. For those who are newer to the group, or have not been on an "adventure" we are not training for the "Ironman" competition. Most of our experiences are mild, but we could also make them wild! We will begin the year of 2005 with a volcanic explosion!

On Saturday January 29, 2005 we will venture to Spencer Gorge in Canada. The volcano is not hot as it is made of ice. If this sound interesting and you would like more information feel free to call 863-5426 or email me at smgawron@localnet.com on or before Wednesday January 26. I will provide final details at this time. If you are not a fan of the cold, check back as I will try to post a monthly hike. I will also be continuing our tradition of a campout on the second weekend in June. We will most likely camp at Alleghany in tent sites.  Thank you, Shawn.

CCC 526
To become a child in relation to God is the condition for entering the kingdom. For this, we must humble ourselves and become little. Even more: to become "children of God" we must be "born from above" or "born of God". Only when Christ is formed in us will the mystery of Christmas be fulfilled in us. Christmas is the mystery of this marvelous exchange":

O marvelous exchange! Man's Creator has become man, born of the Virgin.
We have been made sharers in the divinity of Christ who humbled himself to share our humanity.

Harvest House invites you to their free monthly entertainment. Most concerts are on the third Friday of the month  and  start at 7:30pm. The events are open to everyone and are G (God) rated! The concerts are very informal. Children are welcome, invited and allowed to move about the church. Most concerts feature Christian music. After the concert you are invited to join us for light refreshments and to talk to, and share with, the entertainers. Harvest House is located at 1782 Seneca Street in South Buffalo. Free will offerings are accepted at all concerts. For their entire 2004/2005 concert schedule, directions to their building, or for more information on Harvest House, see their website at: http://www.harvesthouse.ws/concert.html or call 825-0929.
