What Resources Do Young Adult Catholics Have?

Each day I am made aware of all the great treasures God had given us. Of course, I am always thankful for my family, friends, and health. I am also thankful for the many wonderful resources I count on each day to help me be a better Catholic. We have at our fingertips some amazing resources to help us in our lives as Catholics and many of us are unaware of them.

RADIO
WLOF 101.7 FM, for example, is our local Catholic radio station. I was not aware it existed until I heard about the Fr. Corapi conference the radio station hosted last fall at the Hamburg Argi-center. One of the most popular shows on the radio station is Fr. Corapi's conference talk which air from 4-5pm on Thursdays and Fridays. Fr. Corapi has the gift of apostolic preaching, and his talks are fascinating. Another favorite program of mine on 101.7 is The Dr. Is In which is hosted by Dr. Ray Guarendi Dr. Colleen Kelly Mast at noon each weekday. Dr. Ray and Dr. Colleen dispense advice for parents, families, and friends. I am truly amazed about how much I learn that makes me a better wife, mother, and friend. Dr. Ray can also be heard once a month on another program called Catholic Answers. This show is on from 6-7 p.m. weekdays and is mainly an apologetics program. You can also hear many of EWTN's programs during the day. MAGAZINES
Envoy magazine is another Catholic resource that I became aware of through my brother-in-law, Mike Dalessandro. It is a humorous, but inspirational magazine that has also taught me a wealth about my Catholic faith. It is an award winning bi-monthly journal of Catholic apologetics and evangelization, edited by Patrick Madrid. Visit their website at www.envoymagazine.com.

BOOKS
I recently purchased the book, Surprised By Truth also edited by Patrick Madrid. It tells the stories of eleven personal conversion accounts to the Catholic faith. It is compelling reading and touches upon some of the issues our Protestant friends struggle with in regard to the Catholic faith. The most touching story was that of the conversion of James Akin who is now an expert in Catholic apologetics. It is worth reading!

CDs
If you are looking for a great Catholic music group to listen to, one of my newest favorites is Ceili Rain. You can check them out at www.ceilirain.com. Their music combines a Celtic flare with a pop/rock sound. I am by no means a fan of Irish music, however Ceili Rain changed my opinion the more I listened to them. They have many catchy tunes on ordinary topics like thankfulness and taking turns. You can even see their music video "Barely Stay Inside of My Own Skin" at their website.

WEB
Of course I've given you many websites to check out in relation to the above recommendations, but the following website is its own website. At www.catholicexchange.com you can read a variety of articles pertaining to the Catholic faith. I am able to print the readings for daily mass which enables me and my children to follow along while at mass. I truly love the "Homily of the Day" which is based upon these daily readings. It is one of m favorite inspirational sites.
